Disney College

Link for Registration:

https://www.disneynow.com/profile/web/index.cfm?PKWebId=0x1210462a4

The Courses:

Marketing U- Learn how to present yourself. Create a resume, learn how to interview, and master networking.

Corporate Analysis- Study the Disney Company from inside out

Blended Learning- Supposedly one of the funner classes. Outdoor and onsite activities.

Leadership Speaker Series- Hear from senior leaders and employees for Disney. Lots of insight.

Registration:

Super easy! I fill silly even writing a blog on it. If you have a last name, an email address, and know when you're starting then you're in. You can only pick one class online. You can get more when you move in. It will let you know the specific dates of when you can add more classes. Some of the courses allow college credit. You have to check with your specific college for that information, however.

Otherwise, read the class descriptions and print the syllabus of the one you pick. Pick your back ups if you plan on adding more when you get there. :)

I chose:

Blended learning. Tuesday.
and then I plan on adding....
Corporate Analysis. Monday.

Hope this helps! Have a magical day!

My Kind of Organization

You may have realized by now that I am kind of OCD about being organized. This is because I keep myself Very busy. Two semesters ago I had 3 jobs and 17 units and my junior college. I needed a way to hang on! So this is "My Life Binder."

Yep, that's right! I'm taking you inside to the very inner workings of how I get everything done.

A blank piece of paper for lists of what to buy or quick notes. And a post it held all ghetto by two bobby pins xD But whatever works, right?

Newest edition. A "Walk Away Folder" is sooo nice. The Binder is super bulky. So this works nicely.

I filled with paper for notes or, usually, an itinerary of my day. And the other side is for materials that I need for the day. Example here: phone numbers and a receipt to pick up the first season of The Big Bang Theory at Walmart. ^.^

I keep cards for birthdays so I don't lose them. I don't keep a year's worth or anything lol. Just that month or week's worth.

I happen to be religious, Catholic to be specific. So I keep a section for a weekly mass. I get mine from DemocratCatholics.com :)

Usually says "Monthly or My Month." And then I have all the weeks behind each month. But because it was the summer and I didn't need to have each week planned out. Especially since I decided on no summer courses before I leave. So yeah, this just says summer. But Before I leave it will be My Month and then the weeks behind each month.

My Goal Chart.
This is the best thing ever. The first column is 1-31. The circled days are days that I get paid. The important ones lol The labels at the top are goals. For each day that I complete one of these goals, whether it be running, writing, doing yoga, whatever I mark the box. You can visually see where you lagging behind in the things you want to accomplish :) Very nice for a visual person.

:) :) :) :) :)

Cornell Note Paper left over from high school. Whatevs, regular paper works fine.

No longer taking college classes during the internship. But this is where I'd put that stuff. Unless they require more space. Usually they don't, but if the teacher loves paper work or an individual binder, then go on and conform lol

Sections for le school stuffs.

I stayed in town a lot. Between classes or work, I had some time to kill...sometimes.

SOOO I put menus, deals, phone numbers, and a small calendar of events of the town I was in most.

This section also has tabs for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Desserts, and Snacks

Root Beer Waffles, need to try these :) I get my recipes from TraderJoes.com and other places I plan on shopping.

I don't think I'm going to keep coupons here. I have a special coupon binder. But I don't know if I really need a separate binder yet. If I don't, then I'll move them here. Otherwise I just keep GROUPONS and Notes.

Just a divider. Doesn't serve a purpose, really xD

Where the magic happens! I had 3 blogs, hence the post its.

The End. I highly encourage you all to try making your own Life Binder. :) It helps.

The College Part of the Program

Cheap desks you can set up at home.

Alright, so here is the dream killer. School! Now I don't think a desk would be completely necessary for the classes that Disney offers. I think one could get by just fine with something like this:

However, I'm now a student at Cerritos Junior College. Some other Disney Interns may also be going to Fullerton or Universities near by. I don't think I could make it one day with something like this. I need a desk!

Here's my hope:
I'm hoping that I can convince my roommates to either let me take up a section of the room up for a small desk with either a bookshelf connected to it or something small I can put next to or in my portion of the closet. Otherwise I'd want to put it in the living room. I'm afraid that there could be times when there would be a lot of noise or people over while I'm trying to do work though. There's a lot to consider here. Do I want to travel to a library to do my homework? Do I want to share a communal desk with everyone in the apartment so that we can get something with enough space for everyone and then move my supplies every time I sit down?

I haven't come to a decision yet. I kinda like the "inside the room" one. I have seen some apartments with awfully big laundry rooms. Maybe I can stick it in there. We'll see.

Just something to consider :)

Purple Folder!

This lovely purple folder was in the mailbox for me last Sunday :D

I don't necessarily want to go over what was in it. It's pretty much all the information you can find on the website but in paper form. You do find out your exact hourly pay and get your ID/Password to play the exciting Time Keeper game for Disney Interns. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Stay patient!

The Interview

(Btw-mass posts just work better sometimes lol)

So if you've read the blogs up to this point, then you know that I had my little mishap. BUT got the interviewer I had last time. She was great. Super happy and helpful. My dearest apologies and hopes to those of you who end up getting the rare grumpy interviewer.

During the interview you can expect to be asked:

-What are your top three choices for a job at Disneyland?
-Why do you want to work at Disneyland?
-Do you have any concerns about the living conditions?

My answers:

-Food/Beverage, Merchandise, and Attractions.
-Because of the name. Dropping Disney's name and my acceptance email landed me my first job!
-(This had her in stitches) "I don't care about leaving home. I don't care about the rent. All I care about is that I don't get a bunk bed!!!" She replied that she had never had anyone be only concerned about a bunk bed, but sympathized. So in my notes it says that I do not want a bunk bed and if placed with one, I can ask for them to replace it with a real bed or find me a room where I wouldn't have to have one. Awesome right?!

Be real. Be friendly. Be that slightly demented Disney Happy.

Be Yourself.

<3 Good luck!

Application Process

February 17: Application submitted

I submitted my application online after viewing the E-Presentation. It's a bit long so make sure to set an afternoon aside. You want to be completely present with the presentation, the application and the online interview. I got my ID# and the phone number to call for my interview.

ProTip: WRITE THESE DOWN AND NEVER LOSE THEM. TATTOO THEM TO YOUR FOREARM IF YOU HAVE TO. BUT DO NOT LOSE THEM!!!

February 22: A fail interview

So I counted the hours down. I was so excited for this day. I hadn't gotten much sleep due to classes and work but I couldn't be any more excited. I was so nervous I thought I was going to throw up. I got home and sat at my desk with the telephone. Then.... Our phone line went out. I have a deep seeded hate for Charter now. The phone kept hanging up on my interviewer! And only in the last breath did I get the date and time of a new interview date.

February 24: An awesome interview

The best interview I could have ever asked more. Everything happens for a reason. It was the same interviewer that I had had the first time I applied! We basically gabbed like old friends. It was great! This was pretty much the best day ever.

March 13: A forgotten email

My sister got married on March 14th. (I realized and notified her that this is Pi Day after we had gotten home. lol) This was the day before. I had asked my boyfriend to check my email this day because internet costs money in a hotel. Jerks. Well he forgot.

March 14: A found email

I called my boyfriend after a full day of activities. My sisters, cousin and I laid in the hotel beds watching Chicago and I let them talk with him. It was really cute. ^.^ I mentioned that he hadn't told me what I got in my email. He apologized and like the goose he is, went straight to his computer to check even late at night. He told me that I had gotten an email from Disney saying something about needing to call. He paraphrased. (Btw, just read emails to me word for word x] Pet peeve.) Turns out that if he hadn't had forgotten to check my email the day before, I would have missed this email which notified me that I had until 5pm on the 15th to call them or I would be considered to have lost interest!!! Told you everything happens for a reason.

March 15: Accepted!

Needless to say I called and called all the way home. I left message after message notifying the woman who had contacted me that I was on a train and might lose signal and that calling in the afternoon would be best. I was just talking with my mom about all of the coincidences over this whole process when...SHE CALLED! I was told that I was accepted as Quick Service Food and Beverage. :) Very good day.

So that was my experience with being accepted. I paid the down payment and have been anxious ever since!
